Wash Your Hair The Right Way Using These Tips

Do you know that washing your hair the right way is essential for salon-like soft, silky and shiny hair? A good hair wash will leave you feeling light in the head and relaxed. Apart from cleansing your hair from the roots to the tips, it will work as a therapy. So, are you ready to amp up your hair game and take it to the next level? Wash your hair the right way using these tips:

1. Oil your hair

Go for a gentle oil massage a couple of hours before washing your hair. Using essential oils help keep your hair moisturized, tangle-free and strong. To ensure your hair gets the proper care it needs, use natural ayurvedic oil that has the goodness of vatajata, ashwagandha, and pudina, and is free of chemicals and minerals.

2. Brush your hair

Brushing your hair before washing helps increase blood circulation, opens up the pores in your scalp and reduces the build-up of oils in your hair. Brushing also untangles the knots.

3. Rinse your hair carefully

While rinsing, be careful as your hair is fragile. Avoid rubbing your hair vigorously while rinsing to prevent breakage as you wash your hair.

4. Use lukewarm and filtered water

Always use lukewarm water to rinse your hair. Lukewarm water opens up the hair cuticles, loosens all the dirt and oil. It also absorbs oil or conditioner that you have massaged in your hair. Before coming out of the shower, rinse your hair with cold water which seals the hair cuticles and locks moisture in the hair. Use a shower water filter to wash your hair which eliminates chlorine and other chemicals present in the water.

5. Don’t wash your hair daily

Washing your hair three times a week and oiling a couple of times works best for your hair. Most people are don’t know that the hair produces more oil when washed frequently. Using shampoo and conditioner regularly leaves chemicals in your hair, leading to overexposure. This might ruin the texture of your hair and result in breakage or dull hair.

6. Use a shampoo that suits your hair type

Choosing the right shampoo is as important as washing your hair well. If you have oily hair, consider a purifying shampoo. And, if your hair is dry, opt for a shampoo that smoothens and moisturizes your hair. Use only a small amount of it and lather it up, and then wash it with cold water to close all the pores.

7. Massage your scalp carefully

The technique of washing your hair is crucial. You have to be gentle while cleaning at the roots. The trick is not to use your nails to massage.

8. Let your conditioner stay for two to three minutes

The conditioner doesn’t work like shampoo, so it’s not about a quick massage and a rinse. Apply conditioner mid-shaft downward towards the end. Don’t start conditioning at the roots. While you are waiting to rinse your hair, run a wide-tooth comb to untangle any hair. Keeping the conditioner in the hair is the tricky part of washing your hair. So, it’s best to wrap your hair in a towel for two to three minutes. Don’t keep it for long as it will leave residue in your hair.

9. Towel dry your hair and use heat protecting serum

You may have finished washing your hair, but your hair care is far from over. You are just getting there. Post-wash treatment of your hair is essential. Wrap your hair in a towel to let the towel absorb the water and then pat it dry. It is best to let your hair dry naturally, but if you do want to use a dryer, apply a heat protecting serum.
