There’s no denying that most women want soft, smooth skin. But undesirable facial hair, which most women encounter, can not only affect the appearance of the skin but can cause embarrassment too. To get rid of facial hair, women adopt various methods such as waxing, shaving, threading, laser hair removal, and electrolysis. However, all these provide a temporary cure, and over time, the hair grows back. Some techniques could even damage your skin.
Ayurvedic remedies, on the other hand, are painless and can provide permanent results. These home remedies include natural ingredients that are safe on the skin and are easily available in your kitchen or garden. Additionally, these facial hair removal remedies are rather affordable.
Here are a few effective Ayurvedic remedies to get rid of facial hair at home:
Turmeric and herbal leaves:
Make a thick paste by grinding dry turmeric, Acalypha indica leaves and neem leaves. Apply the paste on your face and leave it overnight. In the morning, peel off the dried mixture and wash your face. Repeat this thrice a week for desired results.
Mix lemon juice, honey and sugar to make a scrub. Rub the mixture over the affected areas on your face. Leave it for 20-30 minutes and rinse. Regular use will eventually remove facial hair.
Egg face pack:
Separate an egg yolk from the white, and transfer the white to a bowl. Add one teaspoon of corn-starch and one tablespoon of sugar to the egg white and mix it well. Apply the mixture to affected areas. Allow it to dry and then wash it off with cold water. Do this thrice a week for desired results.
Prepare a paste by mixing Kusuma oil with thanaka. Massage it on the affected areas of your face until it is absorbed into the skin and leave it on overnight. Wash off the paste in the morning and use this treatment regularly to eventually stop hair growth.
Potato face mask:
Extract juice from a potato. Soak yellow lentils overnight, crush and add it to the potato juice. Add honey and lemon juice to the mixture. Apply and leave for 20 minutes before washing it. Repeat this regularly and you will eventually see less facial hair.
Grind up chopped onions and basil leaves to prepare a paste. Apply it over the region you want to treat and leave it for 30 minutes. Regular usage will show visible results.
Flour face mask:
Take half a cup of chickpea flour, add one teaspoon turmeric powder, one tablespoon fresh yoghurt and mix well. Massage the mixture on your face and leave for 25 minutes. After it dries, rub your palms in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
Add barley powder to milk and mix well until you get a thick paste. Squeeze some lemon juice to this and mix well. Apply the paste on your face and leave it for 30 minutes, and then rinse with cold water.
Milk and barley stick to the face. So, when the paste is scrubbed off, it removes facial hair and dead skin cells.
Apricot and honey:
As a rich source of antioxidants, apricots can help get rid of facial hair. Mix apricot powder with honey. Apply the mixture of your face and wash it off with lukewarm water.
Unlike chemical products, the above Ayurvedic remedies use natural ingredients that won’t harm your skin. They are also suitable for sensitive skin. Try these methods and witness a permanent change in your facial hair.
